Pizza Factory

Day 1

I woke up at 9 and had nothing to do for almost 6 hours. I left for work at 3 and arrived on time and met Ifran there. We learned where everything was, ingredients, pizza boxes, knives, etc. We made some pizzas, after being taught by our supervisor, and then learned how to put what, where. After some hard work here and there, we were told to cut more pepperoni, salami, and capicola. Cutting meat is the most boring job, and then you gotta clean the meat shaver afterwards. After that Ifran and I had to cut AND grate cheese. There were 4 different types of Mozzarella. 4 DIFFRENT TYPES OF THE SAME CHEESE. 53% moisture, 43%, 46%, and 40% all with diffrent properties. Well apparently your supposed to have a good mix of them all while grating but our supervisor forgot what the ratio is. So Ifran and I started calculating how much cheese of what kind of mozzarella we had and with our SUPER AWESOME SCIENCE CO-OP knowledge, we worked it out. But before grating it... We had to cut the cheese... And... YOU WONT BELEIVE HOW BIG THESE BLOCKS OF CHEESES WERE...

Day 2

I arrived at 4oclock at work with Ifran. We started the day having to cut and grate cheese AGAIN. It's fun and all, but damn it's hard work. After cutting like 100 pounds of cheese, we started to help make pizzas. There was a rush that day since it was friday. Alot of people ordering larges. Well after all that, we started to cut some tomatoes.
After filling up a full basket, we started to make and fold pizza boxes. We made about 200 of them. After all of that we cleaned the cheese grater, cleaned all the pans, cleaned the desks and everything. We also made a pizza for ourselves to eat. Our friend Albert came and visited us, he ended up sitting there for 4 hours drinking the same slurpee. At the end of the day, we swept the floor and cleaned everything again then went home at 12. It was quite a busy day, and I was feeling really tired that day.

Day ?

I arrive but this time earlier than usual. I helped clean the whole place up. (Wash the pans, sweep the floor, etc.) After that I folded boxes with Ifran. We folded about 300 boxes in like 10 minutes, cause we're just that awesome. After that we made pizzas throughout the day like usual. We're getting more accustomed to the whole place, and things are becoming natual to do. We also had to cut ingredients throughout the day. Mushrooms, tomatos, green peppers, pineapples, lettuce, romaine, garlic, cilantro, ginger, etc. Overall the whole day went by as usual, no real problems. Well... it was going fine... UNTIL... Ifran and I had to cut onions. It was going good for awhile, but then, as soon as I was cutting my second onion, when my knife went in halfway, right to the center, MY EYES JUST BURNED, IT HURT SO MUCH. But knowing us, we just kept cutting like nothing happened, and we heard the supervisors saying how tough we were ;D. But deep down... Y'know.

Day ??

Started work at 4 today. Right away we had jobs to do. We made pizza dough, made pizza sauce, kneaded dough, sauced the pizzas. That took awhile to do, and after we were done, the day got really busy. Every second people were ordering pizzas, and not just 1 or smalls, it was always 3-5 larges every time. We were quickly running out of ingredients, but with Ifran's awesomeness and my own awesomeness combined, we did all this easily. The day ended with Ifran, the owner, and I just talking. OH yeah, and I cut about a thousand mushrooms.

Day 1 - TRAINING

Upon waking up, I noticed that my room was FREEZING, but I digress. After taking the skytrain with Ifran, we arrived at Science world for our training. To our surprise, there were 4 other students there for training too. They didn't seem interesting so I didn't bother with introductions and names. We were told the secret code to enter areas of science world and where to change/go to the washroom. All of it was in the GREEN HALLWAY (Yeah out of all the colors, WHY?). Later, after learning how to operate some machines, It was lunch time. We returned after an hour, and we then learned how to operate and act in certain exhibits. Hours passed and finnally the day was over. We learned how to sign out and many other things. Everyday before and after Science World closes, we have to have a meeting about schedules, and about customer complaints/responses.

Day 2 - THE REAL FIRST DAY

Starting out the second day with folgers in my cup, was the best part of waking up.

I attended the morning meeting with the rest of my co-workers and discussed how the day will play out. I recieved my schedule, and immediately noticed the ammount of students coming in today. There were ALOT, Like, WHOA, ALOT. My job in the morning was to help setup and guide students to the coat racks, making sure they are used properly. Well there was a storm of jackets flying at me non stop that morning. I had help from another work exp. student named Parveen. She helped alot. Just so you know. k. WELL ANYWAYS, after that I went to look after the Eureka! gallery, where all these gadgets and things are. The hour passed slowly and then I went to look after the Kidspace exhibit. Kidspace was a space for kids, not the pace for kids, but a space where kids could go. Well I basically ended up watching over kids for the rest of the day. OH YEAH, and a memorable moment I had there was when a little boy lost their parents and I helped search the place for them and doing all the necessary procedures in finding them. After all of that, I attended the end meeting, where I started to think to myself and recall about what had happen during this day. That's when I realized, one of my co-workers keep touching me and staring at me for some reason...

DAY 4? - This is where I lose track of things

LEGO Rollercoaster
Well, today, I woke up at the exact same time, but this time, I was sick. I ended up staying in the washroom for an hour coughing. Arriving at the skytrain station at the usual time, iFran and I attend the usual morning meetings. This day, our friend Ivan was 'In-charge, they are the people who schedule everything and plan everything out, and this was a good thing because Ivan is the coolest person. Our schedule was really easy and we were always placed toghether. The day was going fine, until a man named BEN TONG arrived and questioned us. After that we supervised other exhibits and a mom had lost her daughter. This is where the teamwork comes in. Ifran went to call the In-charge while I got a description of her and reported it on the radios. We had her back within a few minutes. The day ended off with the usual meeting, horrible jokes, and McDonalds.

DAY 6? - Another day, Another Nickel

We attended the same old morning meeting, recieving the schedule and dirty looks alike while opening the place up. I had to setup Kidspaces, making sure all the computers and balls were out and making sure everything was in place. I finished REALLY early with about 50 minutes to spare. So after that, I just left and helped out another co-worker named Kate in the lobby organizing the schools and where they should go. After doing almost all the work, I helped stamp all the kids hands when they arrived. I spent most of the day watching over the Lego exhibit because kids love to touch that stuff and I love to stop them. After lunch, I supervised the Search gallery. I had to take care of all the animals and spiders and stuffz. I fed them and answered kids questions. "Corn Snakes eat rodents, and no the Poisonous Dart Frog is not poisonous." After a good hour, it was time for the end meeting and the long trip home.

5) One positive experience with a co-worker
During my lunch hour, I decided to stay and help one of my co-workers. I helped set up her experiement and show and ran a few errands for her.

6) Unexpected Event
An unexpected event happened during one of my shifts in the Eureka! exhibit, when a mom started to breastfeed her baby on a public bench. I didn't know what to do. Should I ask her to move to the nursing room? Ignore it? I ended up bringing it up at the end meeting.

7) How does the job feel?
At first, the job seemed boring and unacceptable because of the 12 hours of standing non stop and what not. A few days later, I'm starting to think it wouldn't be that bad if it paid good and if I got used to the routine.

8) Similarities to School
Well you gotta wake up early, but this time, even earlier. Theres still the manditory work needed to be done. Paper work is still there and you still follow a schedule.
